The program will consist of a Study Manual and exams. The Study Manual is divided into two sections. Modules 1-5 correspond with the areas in the Travel Industry Act, 2002 and the Regulation that will be tested on the Travel Counsellor Exam. Modules 6-9 relate to areas that the Supervisor/Manager must know and the questions on the Supervisor/Manager Exam. (Refer to the FAQ on Key Issues)

While travel counsellors will only need to concentrate on the first five modules for exam purposes, they are strongly urged to read through the entire Study Manual to get an overview of the Travel Industry Act, 2002 and Ontario Regulation 26/05.
 

The material in the program is geared toward a proper understanding of the Travel Industry Act, 2002 and the Regulation, as they affect both the travel agent and the consumer. It is written in an easy-to-read, non-legal format, for easy understanding. CITC worked closely with TICO to produce the written material.

TICO has an Education Standards Committee in place, which thoroughly reviewed the material in the Study Manual, and in turn, reported to the TICO Board, which is comprised of appointed and elected representatives of the Ontario travel industry. The TICO exam was Pilot Tested. As well, under the leadership of Assessment Strategies Inc. (ASI), every exam question along with the four possible responses (the correct response to the question plus three distractors) underwent scrutiny by ASI, the Education Standards Committee, and the TICO Board.
 

Yes. Once the English version of the Study Manual and Exams are launched, the French versions will follow within a reasonable time.

There is no cost for the PDF download of the Study Manual. Candidates who wish to purchase a hard copy of the Study Manual may do so for a fee of $15.00 ( plus applicable taxes) from CITC. There is no discount for those who do not wish to download the Study Manual.

The Travel Counsellor Exam registration fee is $35.00 plus applicable taxes

The Supervisor/Manager Exam registration fee is $35.00 plus applicable taxes

The combined Travel Counsellor and Supervisor/Manager Exam registration fee is $50.00 plus applicable taxes
