FAQ on Certification for Travel Counsellors

Questions and Answers

I wrote the Entry Exam, must I also write the Knowledge Exam?

I have not yet registered for certification, but have been accumulating credits – can I still use these to certify?

Q I wrote the Entrace Exam, must I also write the Knowledge Exam?
A

It depends on when you wrote the Entrance Exam. If you wrote based on the current occupational standard (2004) then the answer is no. You will receive an "equivalency" and will be considered exempt from having to write the Knowledge Exam. The Entrance Exam tested more standards than the Knowledge Exam – so a pass on the Entance Exam will be considered an equivalent to achievement on the Knowledge Exam.

If you wrote the exam based on the 1999 standards (exam dates prior to July, 2004) you must write the Knoweldge Exam, as there were significant changed made to the occupational standards at that time.

Q I have not yet registered for certification, but have been accumulating credits – can I still use these to certify?
A

Approved credits may be applied towards a reduction in occupational experience hours, to a maximum of 50 hours.
